Ethics in the contexts of HRM 

The ethical standards and beliefs as well as  guidelines that shape our choices and behaviours regarding  harmful , good or what is right or wrong  in business terms application of moral principles to decision making and behaviour within an organization Business ethics involves applying moral values and principles to guide decisions and actions within an organization. Making ethical choices is crucial for fostering trust, upholding a positive reputation, and supporting sustainable growth(Buchanan and Huczynski , 2013 , cited in MN7181 People and Organisations: Principles and Practice in Global Contexts ).

 

Individual ethics stem from personal opinions and cultural traditions  as well as  societal expectations. While they impact professional choices, they can occasionally clash with company policies or industry regulations.

Corporate ethics emphasize accountability and  adherence to laws as well as  equitable treatment of stakeholder. It includes areas like transparency and  corporate governance, further more sustainability and social responsibility

The Ethical decision making framework creates a structured process to evaluate whether an action is ethical. It involves gathering facts and assessing benefits and rights as well as justice .

Global Ethical HRM context in Sri Lankan Organisations

Ethical decision making is pivotal for organizations aiming to uphold integrity and social responsibility. In Sri Lanka a few organizations demonstrate the application of ethical values in their business practices

Amba yahalu resort

situated in Dambulla is one of the first resort in Sri Lanka to be entirely run and staffed by women. This project aims to tackle gender inequality in the tourism industry by offering women opportunities in fields typically led by men. Through training programs that enhance hospitality skills, the resort empowers women and encourages a more inclusive workplace. (Mallawarachchi, B , 2025 )

Accountants in Sri Lanka

A study on the ethical decision-making of accountants in Sri Lanka emphasized the significance of using ethical guidelines in financial work. The research, based on Rest's four-component model, highlights the importance of being morally aware, making thoughtful decisions, staying motivated by ethics, and displaying integrity in accounting, showcasing the profession's dedication to upholding ethical principles (Liyanapathirana N and Low M , 2024)
