In an Organisation , ethical and sustainable practices that contribute to social well-being while balancing economic, environmental, and social responsibilities (Carroll, 1991) basically refer to the Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR initiatives focus on areas such as employee welfare, environmental sustainability and ethical business operations as well as community development

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Human Resource Management (HRM)
CSR plays a vital role in Human Resource Management by encouraging a positive workplace improving employee well being and enhancing organizational reputation. CSR initiatives create a sense of purpose among employees. Hence it leads to higher engagement and job satisfaction as well as retention where employees feel valued and are more likely to demonstrate loyalty and commitment to the company (Gond J,. et al ,. 2017)
Companies integrating CSR into their business strategies tend to experience long-term benefits, including enhanced brand reputation, increased employee engagement, and stronger stakeholder relationships (Porter & Kramer, 2011).
How Sri Lankan Telcos implementing CSR

On of prominent telecommunications provider in Sri Lanka Dialog Axiata, a taken initiative to the positive synergy between HRM and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The company's HR department plays a pivotal role in executing several impactful CSR initiatives.The "Nenasa Project," which aims to enhance the educational quality of rural schools (Dialog Axiata PLC, 2019).
Additionally a collaboration between the World Health Organization and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness Dialog has launched national Vision 2020 program. Focusing on reducing preventable blindness. Building on the success of this program, the Vision 2030 project was launched by the College of Ophthalmologists of Sri Lanka to carry forward the efforts of Vision 2020 (Dialog, 2023)
To address the digital divide among older generations SLT conducts workshops to educate senior citizens on internet usage and e-services, enhancing their independence and well-being via SLT e-Senior Programme in addition they have launched several programs to help on uplifting rural schools , road safety programs and uplifting ICT education in Schools (SLT, 2019).

Conclusion
CSR in HRM refers to the integration of social and environmental concerns into an organization’s HR practices while creating a positive impact on employees, communities, and society.It includes initiatives like employee well-being programs, diversity and inclusion efforts, work-life balance policies, and fair labour practices’ in HRM ultimately contributes to the company's long-term success

CSR is a very valuable thing for the brand name of an Organization.it will be helped to enhance brand name,answer for envirnmental problem,attract new members for the organization,increasing self satisfaction of employees as same as share holders and other stake holders.
ReplyDeleteWorking ethics and corporate values get strengthened through CSR activities,which improve workplace culture and employer branding. The implementation of successful integration depends on policy alignment between CSR strategies and HR management for both authenticity and lasting effects.
